Sleep page

Finding a help to sleep page on an entertainment website may seem a bit strange. Entertaining your visitors by offering them ways to fall asleep may seem contradictory.

But apparently, many of the visitors arrive at my website at the end of the day – in bed.

So I thought it only fair, that by having been amazed, enthralled, gobsmacked, and delighted by the content of this website, and  finding yourself in a state of wonder, a page that might pour calm on excited emotions, would help your day end in tranquility.

There are many ways one can induce calm and sleep.

Obviously there are – pills – yuck!

There are CPAPS – Continuous positive airways pressure machines – unfortunately these have a very unpleasant side effect. They are very expensive.

Antihistamine aids like Doxylaminesuccinate and Diphenenhydramine might work. As long as you don’t stay awake trying to pronounce them.

Noisy neighbours can stop sleep. Collect a few friends together waving baseball bats and ask the neighbours politely to keep the sound down.

Then there are the ’sleep herbs’.

Valerian and Melatonin – are said to make you fall asleep quicker.

Passionflower – helps relaxation.

Lavender – apparently soothes and calms.

Camomile – helps you wind down.

Kava – reduces stress.

So what about mixing them all together in a big mug of hot water?

You’ll sleep like a brick and probably wet the bed!

While sound can keep you awake, it can also help to put you sleep.

If you think any of the following sounds  will slide you into slumber,  feel free to copy the recording, then use the repeat button to keep it playing until you doze off.

Apparently these are the top sounds to start you snoring!

The patter of rain.

Or maybe the sound of waves will sooth you?

Then there are technical sounds.

White noise.

Pink noise.

Brown noise.

I couldn’t understand why those sounds were give the names of colours until it hit.

Is it if you are a white person you are supposed to listen to white noise? If you are brown, you listen to brown noise and if you are pink you listen to pink noise?

So if you are a white person and you listen to brown noise will you go to sleep?

If you are a pink person and you listen to white noise will you go to sleep?

If you are a brown person and listen to the pink noise will you go to sleep?

Or will you all stay awake because you worry you are listening to the wrong colour noise?

But there is a problem here, What about our Chinese and Asian friends?

They do not have a sound to fall asleep to.

So for them I have created one.

Yellow noise!

In keeping with asian culture, that is a soothing recording of someone walking through a paddy field.

And yes, there are other coloured noises.

Grey noise. Don’t use that to fall asleep it is use to test hearing.

Violet noise. Not for sleep, used to help with tinnitus.

Grey noise. Apparently invokes pictures of nature. Helpful I suppose if you are sleeping in a field

And what about sound perception?

But what is sound  perception?

It is the way you ‘receive’ sound.

Have a listen.

Now that is a noisy scooter. Annoying and the exact opposite sound to help you sleep.

Unless you have a seventeen year old, who has gone for night out with friends and it is two o’clock in the morning and he or she is not back.

You are very worried and you cannot sleep, has there been an accident? It’s terribly late. He or she has never done this before.

Then you hear this noise.

Your seventeen year old is back, and that noisy scooter signals you can now sleep. The exact opposite of your usual thinking.

That is sound perception.

Like a dripping tap – for some it can drive them mad for others it lulles them to sleep.

But possibly the biggest sleep killer is worry.

Sheet twisting hours in the dark, sometime to the brink of panic.

And the problem with worry is, that it is invariably caused by something over which you have no control.

So if you really have no control over the cause of the worry what on earth is the point of even thinking about it?

Such an easy thing to write. Such a hellishly difficult task to achieve!

And finally a helpful tip.

If you are very old, try sleeping in your coffin, It will avoid a lot of lifting later on.
